One need to calculate the Total Watt Hours. It is critical to get the below calculations correct. Spreadsheet Columns explained: • Item – Appliance description • Number – Number of items • Watts – Power usage for a specific item • Hours – Number of hours the item will be on in summer • Total Watt Hours – This is the total Watt Hours for a 24hr period that will be used. In this scenario we will use 33kW (KiloWatt) of power in a 24hr window. Your scenarios may vary depending on the appliances you have. You will note that the spreadsheet excludes a traditional oven and electrical geyser. Read the section relating to “Electrical Equipment Considerations” for that discussion. Set up your own spreadsheet in the meantime to determine your specific power needs.
Power usage will be different between summer and winter. Generally, more power will be consumed in summer, hence we will use this to allow for a worst-case scenario.
